"My mare, Wonderwoman, coliced approximately a year ago. Dr. Emmons came out twice that night to treat her and finally the decision was made that she needed to go in for further testing and possible surgery.  Dr. Emmons very calmly informed me of the different scenarios that could take place, approximately how much each would cost and the possible outcomes.  I of course was pretty upset and Dr. Emmons continued to be a support and a calming influence while I called family to decide what I could afford and what option I would be able to take.  When it was decided that I did want to send her to the vet school, the next obstacle came up.  I did not have a truck or trailer and did not have anyone I could call at 1 am in the morning to take her.  Dr. Emmons quickly gave me a few options, and even dialed the number for me of someone he thought would be willing to trailer her in for me.  He stayed around until our ride arrived and even helped load my mare into the trailer. Once my mare and I were on the road, he then called the resident (at the vet school) back to give him all the treatment that the mare had gotten at my house and also discussed with the resident what I was willing and not willing to do to save the mare.  Not only did Springhill Equine provide excellent care to my horse but Dr. Emmons also provided much needed support to me as well."

"I recently brought my mare, Eterna in to Dr. Lacher for an exam- not for any identifiable problem, but rather as a result of a feeling that she wasn't quite herself. We had a show coming up, and although Eterna displayed no real symptoms of any kind, she just felt a little less forward than normal under saddle. I felt a little foolish coming to Dr. Lacher with such a vague diagnosis, but not only did she not dismiss my concerns, she agreed that the change in behavior was important. After running several series of bloodwork, she diagnosed the very early stages of a developing liver infection. We began treatment right away and Eterna improved so rapidly & completely that we were able to leave for the show in Virginia the following week. While we were there, Dr. Lacher followed up with me and with the horse show veterinarian several times, just to be certain that everything was progressing as it should.

Thanks to Dr. Lacher's insight, knowledge, and compassion, we were able to diagnose & treat an illness before it ever had a chance to truly become a problem, saving Eterna from a lot of pain & me from a great deal of worry and expense."

"I own a Hanoverian breeding and boarding farm in the Gainesville area. Dr. Emmons is in charge of supervising the health and welfare of all my horses: my babies, weanlings, adolescents, broodmares, riding horses and, of course, my ancient and much beloved TB gelding. I completely respect and trust his opinion.
I have been breeding Hanoverians for 15 years, and routinely use both fresh semen from Hanoverian stallions in America and frozen semen imported from Germany. I would never even consider calling anyone other than Dr. Emmons when breeding time comes around. His success rate with frozen semen is outstanding. I attribute that to his exceptional expertise and also to his endless energy. He is invariably focused, professional and in a good mood, even when palpating mares at midnight.

Our farm mantra is “When Dr. Emmons says ‘jump’, we say ‘how high?' !!!" We are very fortunate to have veterinary care of this caliber readily available."
