"I recently brought my mare, Eterna in to Dr. Lacher for an exam- not for any identifiable problem, but rather as a result of a feeling that she wasn't quite herself. We had a show coming up, and although Eterna displayed no real symptoms of any kind, she just felt a little less forward than normal under saddle. I felt a little foolish coming to Dr. Lacher with such a vague diagnosis, but not only did she not dismiss my concerns, she agreed that the change in behavior was important. After running several series of bloodwork, she diagnosed the very early stages of a developing liver infection. We began treatment right away and Eterna improved so rapidly & completely that we were able to leave for the show in Virginia the following week. While we were there, Dr. Lacher followed up with me and with the horse show veterinarian several times, just to be certain that everything was progressing as it should.

Springhill Equine Veterinary Clinic
"Dr. Lacher and the staff of Springhill Equine have been my vets for the last several years. During that time, I have come to appreciate the full range of services provided by Springhill. Not only do they now offer a state-of-the-art facility with their new clinic, but their quick response not only to emergency situations, but to routine matters as well, far exceeds the industry standard.

In particular, Dr. Lacher has gone above and beyond for me on more than one occasion. When I called and left a message on her service for an emergency situation with one of my horses, the response was so fast she didn't even bother to return the call. Instead, she immediately drove to my farm and helped me through a very tough time with a devastating loss. And this was on a holiday weekend! Recently, when I had to have a pre-purchase exam done by a vet in another state for a horse I was buying. Dr. Lacher (on her own) contacted that vet to let him know that she was interested in the results of the exam, purely in an effort to look out for my best interests in purchasing a horse out of the local area. This involved considerable time and effort on her part including consultation with the other vet, multiple telephone calls to me, and review of x·rays. Again, this was something she did of her own initiative, but is indicative of the type of care that is routinely provided, and was very much appreciated by me.

No matter how busy a day they may be having, when Dr. Lacher or Dr. King come to my farm for a call, they always take their time in checking out each horse and making sure all questions are answered. And there's usually time to weigh in on how the cats and dogs are doing as well! We are very fortunate to have Dr. Lacher and Springhill Equine in our area, providing excellent care for both routine and emergency equine services."

"In Novermber of 2008, LouLou, my beautiful quarter horse mare, was diagnosed with a corneal abscess. Dr. Bob Stawicki and Dr. Erica Lacher worked closely with me over a two month period discussing various treatment options and expected outcomes. They inserted a lavage for easier medication administration and continually reassessed changes in the progression of the abscess and planned her treatment accordingly. Dr. Stawicki made visits to our farm on a weekly basis to evaluate LouLou's eye and discussed modifications in the treatment plan with other specialists. He prepared me for the best, as well as for the worst, by giving me all of the possible outcomes including the possibility of the need for a corneal transplant or an enucleation. Not only did Dr. Stawicki return my phone calls during nights and weekends over this eight week period, but he also initiated phone calls to check on LouLou's progress and to ensure that all of my concerns were addressed. In January, after many ups and downs, LouLou's abscess turned around and the treat of losing her eye had passed. She has made a complete recovery including full vision in the eye that we thought we might lose.
I cannot express how appreciative I am at the expertise and the support that I received during this time. I have had horses my entire life, and never have I worked with veterinarians who were so dedicated to their clients and so truly concerned about the physical well-being of the horse, as well as the emotional involvement of the dedicated horse owner."

"Dear Dr. King and Staff, I wanted to thank you all for the professionalism and care you have shown me, my wife and Raven during our successful breeding experience this past season. I was impressed on how clean, well equipped and efficient your facility is. I appreciated the ease of entering and exiting your clinic and that you extended the use of your parking lot for my trailer during the few days Raven was being boarded there. Dr. King and her assistant Amber were as enthusiastic about their work as we were getting Raven in foal.
I really enjoyed the whole experience and the fact that Dr. King explained everything to us in terms that we could understand. From the ultrasounds indicating the mare was ready to breed, collecting the stallion, insemination and follow-up examinations we received a gift of memories that will extend our knowledge for future breedings. It’s great to have a local facility with a warm, devoted staff, skilled, knowledgeable veterinarian care all working together in a positive manner."

"Our trainer convinced us to breed our Appaloosa mare, Roxy. We informed Dr. Lacher of our plans and of the fact that this would be our first breeding and foal. She then gave us all the information we needed to assure that Roxy would continue cycling in the dead of winter so that we could breed her at the desired time in February. With the expert advice and coaching we received, Roxy conceived on the very first breeding and carried through with a “textbook” and uncomplicated pregnancy. When Roxy began showing signs of impending delivery, Drs. Lacher and Stawicki advised us to keep up a regular watch through the night. On the third night, Roxy began labor in the very early morning hours. When labor stalled, we called Dr. Stawicki, who was on call for the night. After a quick description of the situation, he agreed there was a problem and was at our farm in a very short time. He quickly assessed the situation, adjusted the foal's position and managed to deliver her within just a few minutes of arriving. The foal showed early signs of hypoxia, but quick action by Dr. Stawicki brought her back within normal behavioral and developmental range in just a couple of hours. Roxy sustained internal injuries from the delivery, so Dr. Stawicki and Dr. Lacher make multiple trips to care for Roxy and baby Bella the first few days. We made the difficult decision on day 3 to take Roxy and Bella to Equine Medical Center in Ocala so that Dr. Corey Miller, who is board certified in equine reproduction, could manage the treatment of Roxy's injuries. Roxy and Bella came back home after a week's stay there and are now doing extremely well. We are convinced that Dr. Stawicki's quick and knowledgeable actions saved the lives of both Roxy and Bella."
